Hello freshers and non-freshers alike!
The Gilbert and Sullivan society is one of the oldest societies at King's, with this year being the official 20th year. We have always been regarded as one of the best performing arts societies around, recruiting the biggest and best talents that King's has to offer. The society performs one fully staged show a year at 'The Greenwood', probably the best student theatre you will find (including stage schools!) which has to be seen to be believed.
This year we will be performing a 50/60s pop-art inspired Patience directed by James Hallett. So if you want to sing, dance, act, dress-up, paint things, do techie or orchestra related stuff, we would love to have you on board, and we promise you one of the most enjoyable society experiences with your time at King's!
Important dates for your diary are as follows: the Big Meeting, where you can meet all the performing arts societies, and find out more about the show, is on Wednesday 3rd October; we will be having a pub crawl - a great chance to meet us in more relaxed surroundings - on Thursday 4th October. There will be auditions for the principal roles (not scary, honest!) which are on the 9th and 10th October; but our chorus is open to everyone, so don't worry if you don't want to audition - just turn up at the first rehearsal and join in. We look forward to seeing you there!
When I Was A Lad
The society was formed in 1987, the students of King's College London previously having nowhere to go to exhibit their show-off tendencies or indulge their fetish for dressing up in silly costumes. Its aim was to commemorate the works of the college's former student, W.S. Gilbert, and to this end performs one fully-staged production each year. The society has since flourished and now enjoys an unrivaled reputation at King's as the musical theatre society.

Its members - of the highest quality, although anyone can join the chorus - are involved with all aspects of production. From performance to lighting to set construction and stage management, involvement is the name of the game. The high standards reached by the society's performances have frequently prompted rave reviews from the most cynical theatre critics.
Pour, Oh, Pour The Pirate Sherry
The society also makes ample provision for its members' social requirements and has latterly become the spiritual home of some of the college's most hardened drinkers. The after-show party and Annual Ball are the highlights of a busy social calendar that continues all the year round.
Aspiring members or anyone else who wants to share the experience can contact the committee.
